Saliva Tests

Basic Female Panel (Estradiol, Progesterone, Testosterone, DHEA, & Cortisol

Basic Male Panel (Testosterone, DHEA, Cortisol, & Estradiol)

These tests are used to identify hormonal imbalances that may be causing unpleasant symptoms and chronic health problems. There have been associations shown between saliva hormone levels and conditions like insulin resistance (pre-diabetes), breast cancer, thyroid dysfunction, menopause, PMS, polycystic ovary disease, adrenal dysfunction, estrogen dominance, and androgen (i.e. testosterone) deficiency.

Saliva hormone testing can be used to monitor the effects of hormone replacement therapy and can assist in the development of anti-aging and disease prevention programs. Many men and women may choose to find out their “baseline” hormone levels while still in their 30′s, before experiencing hormone-related symptoms.

In short, saliva hormone testing can be used to determine whether you are at risk for certain diseases and/or the current state of your hormones.

Adrenal Function panel-

This test measures your cortisol level at 4 different times of the day. It is one method for measuring your ability to cope with stress at different times of the day.

During conditions of stress, the adrenal glands, release a variety of chemical mediators including cortisol. However, if the system is overworked and fails to shut down when the stress is over, or conversely fails to respond sufficiently to the initial stress, the physiologic effects of stress can accumulate. If cortisol stays active when it is no longer needed, it can cause damage to other parts of the body.

Since more than 70% of disease is thought to be stress-related, identifying the levels of hormones could greatly reduce the incidence of chronic disease.
